Wooden Red Oak Wheels with Hard tread

Wooden Red Oak Wheels with Hard tread

PriceFrom $21.60

Starting Bulk Discount 2% for 2 Orders

These wheels come with wooden tread fastened securely to the wheel. Each wheel is Machine milled while the tread is laser cut to perfection. You won't even be able to notice the seam that joins the tread together (well you will have to look very close to find it).  Wanting to make a more authentic look for the craft and model world I came up with this unique design.

The core wheel is made of Red Oak wood, giving it a rich oak grain pattern and overall durability, oak is a little more than the poplar wood option I have so if you are looking for this design but at a lower cost, check out this design in poplar ( I am able to make the wheels out of just about any wood species, but prices will vary drastically, but if interested just as and I can give you a custom listing).

The outside tread is made of Hardboard, a very durable multidirectional fiberboard of very high density. Perfect for making wooden tire tread out of! the tread is 1/8 inch thick for reference.

     Wood Details: Red Oak

    Technical Specifications:

Red Oak, scientifically known as Quercus rubra, is a robust hardwood, often compared to Pine for its practical applications but surpassing it in durability and hardness. With a Janka hardness rating of approximately 1290, Red Oak stands out for its strength, making it ideal for items subjected to frequent use. While Pine is softer and more pliable, Red Oak offers better resistance to wear and tear. The typical color of Red Oak ranges from a light creamy reddish-pink to a richer reddish-brown, featuring a distinctive grain that adds visual depth.

    Pros:

Durability: Strong and resilient, perfect for high-traffic furniture and wooden products.

Grain Pattern: Its pronounced grain not only enhances aesthetic appeal but also helps camouflage minor imperfections.

Stain Friendly: Absorbs stains well, allowing for a beautiful, even finish.

    Cons:

Weight: Heavier than woods like Pine, which may limit its use in portable furniture.

Moisture Sensitivity: Prone to warping or swelling if exposed to moisture without proper treatment.

Each piece of Red Oak is unique, offering varied grain patterns and color shifts that promise exclusivity in every custom project. Whether showcasing its natural tone or enhancing it with dark stains, Red Oak provides a warm and welcoming ambiance.
